Style Matters is the brainchild of Bethany and Spencer Lokken. The pair is two-thirds of iconic Chicago DJ collective, Orchard Lounge, and developed the concept of Style Matters with the singular intention of providing unmatched talent for high profile metropolitan gatherings. Universally lauded as the industry leader, we are humbled to have performed at nearly seven thousand weddings since our inception in 2005. Sharing an affinity for a range of different types of music, Style Matters consists of the most accomplished and musically obsessed creatives our city has ever seen.
Every artist on the roster has mastered their craft and we share a common vision: to spread our passion for music with couples who wish to create lifelong memories of dance floor revelry on their wedding night. Every experience is carefully curated and tailored around your tastes. Style Matters will travel anywhere in the world but there are no celebrations that are more meaningful than those that take place right here on Fulton.
Art pieces in their own right, our world-class VOID system was custom designed specifically for our private event space by a team of sound engineers. Their sophisticated and striking appearance will immediately command your attention upon entering the venue, but they will be genuinely appreciated when you hear them in action.
VOID is famous for producing sound that is brilliant at any range. They will leave a lasting impression on guests of all ages as we have carefully designed the room to allow for both dancefloor madness and spirited post-dinner conversation to happen concurrently. You will not find an industrial wedding venue, or any kind of event center for that matter, with more pristine sound.
The Steinway Model B is widely considered by aficionados to be the perfect piano. Ours is signed by the Steinway family and will sit regally in the corner for the duration of your event if you decide not to use it. However, we highly encourage you to secure a pianist for a small portion of your soirée as guests always appreciate the combination of live music and DJ services.

The epitome of style and grace, our '59 Rolls Royce quickly became a part of Ovation's DNA after we opened. It demands the best parking spot directly in front of the venue and will act as a landmark as guests arrive. For our clients, it is used as a form of conveyance. Typically the jaunt in the Rolls happens immediately following the ceremony. Your photographer will ride shotgun as we cruise down Fulton into the West Loop for a bevy of mid-wedding photos.
The best way to make your event stand out? Custom graphics, all produced in-house by Ovation. Greet guests in your own words with a large scale welcome image. Tell your story as a couple through a photo slideshow to enjoy during cocktail hour. Give guests a keepsake to take home with customized photo booth printouts. Send them off with a memorable good night message.
We can can make all of these elements come together seamlessly, along with digital seating chart, dinner menu, and ceremony program displays. Whether it’s simple and elegant, or bold and creative you’re after, Ovation’s in-house graphic design will effortlessly help create an inviting mood.
What’s included? How does it work?
Positioned in the cocktail/dancing portion of the space, the videowall is best used for your custom welcome images, seating charts, and slideshows. We also have created multiple videos that can be played in the background to compliment dancing and keep guests entertained.
The projector throws on to the east wall of the ceremony/dining section of the space. It is best used for ceremony programs, dinner menus, and slideshows. We encourage you to play silent movies and/or graphics after dinner to add to the ambiance of the evening.

We had this 1982 booth re-imagined specifically for Ovation. Our design team will customize the graphics of the 2"x6" hard copy printouts and then you will receive a digital version of all of the high jinks that transpired over the course of the night.
This mezzanine area of the space was specifically designed to be removed from the hustle of the first floor. A quiet retreat to relax and prepare, or to share a profound moment, our naturally lit greenroom is spacious and inviting. Nearby is a private powder room that only our clients and their VIPs will have access to.
The bespoke design of our tables was inspired by the rectangular layout of the venue. The tables are rustic but refined, require no linens, and their 8'x30" design promotes conversation. Whether your floorplan calls for communal seating or a separated table arrangement, they are highly versatile and lend themselves to just about any kind of floral and decor aesthetic.
Typically used as a sweetheart's table, enjoy private moments with your partner surrounded by your most near and dear.
Designed for drinks, cake, and as an area for people to convene, like our dining tables, bar, and counter, the highboys' design is unique to Ovation.
Yves Saint Laurent said it best. "I love black because it affirms, designs, and styles."
The bar is not only tastefully designed, but purposely positioned opposite the DJ booth. Now even the most reserved guests will feel included in the dance party.
In the dining section of the space sits our 30' counter. An area typically reserved for buffets, desserts, coffee, cake, tea, etc.
We have a model that offers flexibility and one of the easiest decisions we made when devising our business plan was to allow outside catering. In a city like Chicago, you've got a plethora of options. Lean on us to provide a list of some of our favorites, but as long as you secure a licensed and insured group that will follow our short list of house rules, you are free to use any caterer you'd like.
In another effort to keep costs manageable, we are BYOB. This means you can utilize a service like Prestige to drop off and pick up your alcohol. You pay only for what is consumed.
We designed this space to be highly functional and we conducted a lot of market research with industry professionals before the build out. We regularly get rave reviews from caterers that Ovation is their favorite space to work because of its size and amenities (commercial fridge, 3 comp sink, prep tables, storage, proximity to loading dock, abundance of power, TV connected to the camera system, etc.).
Restoration Hardware across the board, lounge furniture is a necessity in any discernible event space. Ours not only align with the motif of the venue but will be appreciated by guests of all ages throughout the course of your party.
Our in-house event liaison will set up the final walk through, coordinate with your vendors, and will act as an ambassador for you and your families over the course of the celebration.
With elegance and functionality in mind, the track and drape system creates two unique zones of the venue: ceremony/dining and cocktail/dancing. The track and drape system allows for the transition from one portion of the evening to the next to be seamless.
In the colder months of the year we provide a retractable coat check complete with hangers and tags. We will staff this area between November 15th and March 15th.
Ping pong, foosball, darts, and bags will keep your guests in good spirits all day long.
Greeting you as you arrive and keeping you safe once indoors, we'll have security personnel inside and outside the venue all night long.
We are located in a neighborhood with an abundance of free street parking but we also have a dedicated 20 car lot, complete with electric car charging station, on the east side of the building.
We want our space to feel welcoming and to do that we provide candle treatment throughout the venue on the window sills, on the cocktail tables, end tables, and coffee tables.
Most often used for corporate functions, the lectern can also be utilized by your officiant or for readings.
